My responsibilities include strategic planning for the association, creating and maintaining public awareness of the maritime sector, and negotiating with Danish and EU authorities at all levels including ministerial on subjects concerning environmental and technical regulation or generally legislation of importance to industry.
Representative to the IMO for CESA 1996 – Present (20 years)
Representing shipbuilding interests and giving advice on maritime technology to IMO committees as part of the delegation of an observer organization. Focus has been on environmental protection and safety.
Manager / lobbyist for Danish Maritime 1992 – 2007 (15 years)
I set up and managed the first Brussels office of the then Danish Shipbuilders’ Association, with the main task of reducing the level of EU subsidies to shipbuilding.
In Copenhagen my main tasks concerned environmental and safety regulation affecting maritime manufacturers including shipyards and equipment manufacturers.
Lobbyist for Jernets Arbejdsgivere 1989 – 1992 (3 years)
I set up and managed the first Brussels office of the Industrial Employers Association, lobbying on EU legislation ranging from working hours, over packaging requirements to competition and trade issues.
Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Denmark to the EU 1987 – 1989 (2 years)
Preparing Council adoptions on industry and trade, particularly the regulation of international trade in textiles.
Head of section at the Danish ministry of industry 1977 – 1987 (10 years)
Preparing and implementing trade regulation and industrial policy for selected sectors of Danish industry, primarily textiles and shipbuilding
